Mother’s Day, from Coop an aid to mothers fleeing the conflict

Bringing help to mothers in need starting with those fleeing the Ukrainian conflict on Mother’s Day. This is the aim of the initiative which from 5 to 11 May sees Coop engaged in all participating stores. For each pack of Coop brand baby nappies purchased, one will be donated to the non-profit organizations that have been working on the Italian host territories in recent months. If we limit ourselves to the context of the war in progress, to date there are about 55,000 women who have arrived in our country since the outbreak of the conflict, accompanied by over 37,000 minors. In fact, between 85% and 90% of arrivals are women or children. “In the bewilderment of those who run away and in the immediacy of those who welcome, it sometimes happens to lose sight of the simplest things, which however are often also the most essential – Maura Latini, managing director of Coop Italia – Diapers are certainly among them. Of course we know that this is a marginal contribution, but #Coopforucraina has shown us that the number of our members and customers who want to lend a hand is really significant, as was their extreme generosity, so this time we are making a new step forward “. Cooperatives will identify the beneficiary non-profit organizations, making use of the collaboration network already in place or activated for #Coopforucraina in its second phase. Launched on 4 March close to the outbreak of the conflict, the entire campaign has already raised 1.2 million euros at the national level and then continued, from the beginning of April onwards, in its second phase at a more territorial level, donating what was collected to associations who collaborate with the various cooperatives in the Coop world. It is now Mother’s Day which is an opportunity to combine Coop’s attention to the world of women with the need to help.
