Istat, Maggino (Dbi): “Bes is the only tool to monitor the common good”

“Bes is a statistical and cognitive heritage but also a cultural one. It is not just a system of indicators but it is a holistic way of reading and understanding each other as a country. It is a fundamental tool for making decisions that are oriented towards the common good”. This was stated by Filomena Maggino former President of the ‘Benessere Italia’ Control Room of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, today coordinator of the Integral Wellbeing department of the Pontifical International Marian Academy at the Holy See, during the last presentation of the Report on Fair and Sustainable Wellbeing ( Bes), promoted by Istat. “The complex look to make such decisions also requires a new governance. It requires a place where decisions taken in a complex reality are evaluated, ex-ante and ex-post, with respect to the impact they have on citizens’ lives” concludes Maggino .
