Agroalimentare, Del Bravo (Ismea): “The most relevant dynamic weather and raw material prices”

“Unlike the industrial sector, other variables also intervene directly in the agricultural sector, such as the weather trend and the presence of plant diseases that can compromise crops, or the tensions in the international prices of some raw materials that can cause increase the costs of production factors. All the more reason, therefore, in the agricultural sector there are very different situations from sector to sector ”. Fabio Del Bravo, head of Ismea market services, says this in an interview with Adnkronos / Labitalia. “For summer fruit, for example (peaches and nectarines in particular), this production campaign – he reports – was one of the most difficult ever. We are facing a production that has been reduced by the bad weather of last spring, and which, despite a lack of supply on the national and community market, is unable to obtain satisfactory prices for farmers. To these difficulties are added, then, the increases in production costs, in particular of energy products, which further reduce the margins for growers. “” The record increases in the prices of some raw materials – he comments – are also exacerbating the problems of poor profitability of farms. Corn and soy, which are the basis of bovine feeding, recorded the highest values ​​in the last 15 years, posing a serious problem of economic sustainability for some livestock realities “.
