Generali nominate Piazza San Marco as the seat of the Venice Foundation

The old Procuratie of Venice will become the seat of the foundation of Assicurazioni Generali “The human safety net”. This was announced this morning by Philippe Donnet, Group CEO of the colossus on the occasion of the presentation of the “Venice, world capital of sustainability” Foundation in the Palazzo della Prefettura in Ca ‘Corner. The number one of the Trieste-based company therefore highlighted that “we will bring back to Piazza San Marco a work that has nothing to do with tourism, but there will be people who will work for our foundation”. The social objective of this reality “is to facilitate in a more inclusive way people who find themselves in a situation of weakness. A more sustainable world is also more inclusive ”. Furthermore, the vastness of the area will also allow us to think about other fronts, opening these historic spaces in the heart of the city to the public after almost 500 years. “There is a lot of space available – he added – and it seems natural to us to host the headquarters of this foundation for Venice, the capital of sustainability”. The ancient buildings are still undergoing renovation, after the construction site started a few years ago. The proposal did not go unnoticed by the mayor of Venice, Luigi Brugaro, who applauded the initiative: “Philippe Donnet has just made a very important statement – he commented – and offered us a symbolic place, as well as very expensive for restoration, such as San Marco. Once again, the generosity of private groups is denoted, when they manage to share sustainability paths together ”. The same Generali summit also recalled the commitment to enhance the Royal Gardens, refurbished by the company itself.
