In the electricity market in terms of average final price (net of taxes), the greater protection has lower price values than the free market, with a difference of -23.6%. This is what emerges from the annual report of the Arera. Compared to the previous year, there was a generalized increase in the differentials between the two markets, which derives from the different evolution of the same, underlines the Authority. The free market has values almost equal to the previous year, while the enhanced protection service undergoes an average decrease of 20%. Reduction reflecting the sharp drop in prices on wholesale markets that occurred in 2020, also following the spread of the pandemic. On the other hand, the free market, being characterized by the predominance of contracts at a fixed price for a predetermined period, has transferred the reductions to customers to a limited extent.
