Tobacco, De Castro: “Mipaaf-Philip Morris Italy agreement fundamental for a sustainable supply chain”

“The agreement signed today represents a further, fundamental step in the path undertaken by Philip Morris Italy over ten years ago, with the aim of developing production systems in the tobacco supply chain that are increasingly sustainable from an environmental point of view but also from an economic and social”. This is how Paolo De Castro, member of the European Parliament’s Committee for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agri), comments on the renewal, also for 2022, of the agreement between the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies (Mipaaf) and Philip Morris Italia for the promotion of the Italian tobacco supply chain. “A path that is being strengthened also thanks to the partnership with Coldiretti and which will put thousands of Italian farms in the conditions of being able to produce better, more and with less production inputs, in line with the European green deal, strengthening and expanding even more the quality of made in Italy productions “, concludes the MEP.
