Banks lead the recovery of Piazza Affari

Thanks to the performance recorded by the securities of the banking sector, Piazza Affari closed the session preceding the meeting of the European Central Bank in substantial parity. On the day in which two giants of the caliber of Jp Morgan and Blackrock gave the green light to the new season of the US quarterly, the first disappointed while the second beat the estimates, the banking sector listed in Milan allowed the Ftse Mib to recover the losses of the first part closing just above par (+ 0.22% at 24,722.16 points). Banco Bpm finished with + 3.35%, Mediobanca posted + 2.35%, UniCredit gained 1.45% and Intesa Sanpaolo closed essentially unchanged (+ 0.15%). Positive performance also for Telecom Italia (+ 3%), driven by rumors about an alleged interest of Iliad and Apax in the Consumer division, and Atlantia (+ 0.78%), which instead capitalized on the possibility that the Benettons will launch a Takeover bid. The + 2.4% of oil (107.1 dollars per barrel) allowed Eni to close with + 2.22%, while the trio formed by Campari (-3.15%), Nexi (-2) , 68%) and Terna (-2.33%). In the sector of public utility companies, -1.73% for Hera and -0.8% for Enel. On the government bond front, this morning the Ministry of Economy put on the market three-year bonds with a yield of 1.32%, the highest level since the end of 2018 (0.57% in mid-March). Maximum from May 2019 for BTPs with a 7-year maturity (from 1.47 to 2.04%). In the case of 20 and 30 year BTPs, the yield stood at 2.69% and 2.89% respectively.
