Qf: for the relaunch of Ex-Gkn plan of 82 million, full production in 24 months and cig

An 82 million euro industrial plan will relaunch the former Gkn site in Campi Bisenzio acquired by Qf, which in 24 months should be able to bring production to full capacity, guaranteeing the protection of all workers in force at the site. This is what emerged today at the Mise table with trade unions, institutions, the company and the government, which however did not provide any details on the investor who should participate in the Newco together with Francesco Borgomeo’s company. The plan illustrated by the Iris Consortium, as the unions explain at the end of the meeting, and defined as ‘E-Drive Gen. 5.0’, is aimed at customized productions in the sector of electric mobility, electric propulsion and renewable energy, within of the strategic lines of the NRP. A plan that still needs to be fine-tuned and which therefore also provides for the use of Cig and a training plan for all 442 workers on the site. The relaunch process also includes the hiring of new staff with very specific skills and professionalism. At a later stage, however, the plan will provide for the start of the electrification of transport systems also linked to the energy sector. In addition to the electric motors, the power converter will also be developed. The plan will also make use of a major R&D and design facility, integrated with industrialization and manufacturing. The roadmap includes 5 steps: the first 3 will take place in 2022 and will concern the sectors relating to engineering, validation division, and control room. The 4th will take place in 2023 and has been called “first production”, and the 5th, “full production”, to be completed in the first quarter of 2024. The former Gkn workers will be progressively reintegrated until the beginning of 2024. if you watch out for the comments of the unions: the fact of not having introduced the investors who will become part of the newco in which Qf should participate does not completely satisfy Fim Fiom and Uilm. “The commitment for the realization of the project must be guaranteed by the investor for whom Qf has assumed the role of” Bridge “” notes the Fim which for this reason asks “urgently that it be formalized and presented to the trade unions”, asks the Fim national automotive coordinator, Stefano Boschini, for whom the plan “now becomes operational” needs to be. The guidelines with which Qf respected the agreement signed with the trade unions are good, but “it is essential that the identity of the investors be clarified quickly”, urges Fiom at the end of the discussion table. The negotiation for the instruments that will accompany the transition process, in fact, continue the blue suits of the CGIL, “must take place together with the investors, or with those who have real responsibility for the future industrial plan”. In fact, the merit of the plan is fundamental for the start of the ordinary redundancy fund and the transition redundancy fund, provided for by the agreement. “For Fiom, however, the most positive element of the plan is that relating to employment : “in the final balance, the number of employees would be higher than the current one”.
