The Board of Directors of Nuova Codere, held this Tuesday, approved the proposed appointment of Christopher Bell as non-executive chairman of the Group, as an independent director. The candidacy, a note reads, will be subject to ratification at the next Shareholders’ Meeting, called on 7 February, in which the company will decide on the formation of its corporate governance body that will promote the business plan of the new company. Bell is currently non-executive chairman of Team17 Group Plc, OnTheMarket PLC and The Royal Airforce Charitable Trust. He will shortly leave his position as chairman of XLMedia PLC and chief advisor of Rank Group Plc, with the aim of having the necessary time to take on his new role in Codere. In his position as non-executive chairman of Nuova Codere, he will bring his extensive skills as a board member as well as his deep knowledge and long experience in the gaming and sports betting industry which will add great value to this phase the company is initiating. For nearly two decades, Bell held various roles at Hilton Group PLC / Ladbrokes Plc, a company he joined in 1991, serving on the Board of Directors from 2001 to 2006, when he was appointed CEO of Ladbrokes Plc, a company listed on the Ftse 100 index after the sale of the Hilton Hotels division, a position he held until 2010. Christopher Bell joined Allied Lyons as an intern and during his twelve years with the company held various positions of high responsibility, up to when he joined the Ladbrokes Group. Since 2009, Christopher has held other senior non-executive positions, most notably as President of Game Group Plc and Techfinancials Plc, Independent Director of Quintain Estates and Development Plc, and Non-Executive Director of Spirit Pub Company Plc and Gaming Realms Plc. “Codere, in the its four decades of history, has demonstrated its solidity, transformation capacity and leadership. The restructuring of the Codere Group involved a corporate reorganization, through the creation of four three entities in Luxembourg, called Codere New Topco SA, Codere New Midco Sàrl, Codere New Holdco SA and Codere Luxembourg 3 Sàrl. The company will call this new parent structure “Nuova Codere” in its subsequent communications, meaning “Old Codere” as the company Codere SA, in liquidation.
