Sustainability, Ipsos research: for Italians it is a development model

Sustainability: 38% of Italians associate speech with a development model, 35% relate it to environmental protection, 30% relate it to the responsible use of natural resources, 24% to a production model, 14% to waste / scrap management. Only 9 out of a hundred people perceive its value in the social field. This is what emerges from an Ipsos research, presented today at the web conference “Proposals for a responsible and sustainable Italy” promoted by Centromarca in collaboration with Corriere della Sera. According to what emerges, the responsibility for sustainable development is attributed to the choices of citizens (42% of answers), to laws and rules imposed by governments (29%) and to production methods (27%). It is interesting to highlight how most of the people interviewed recognize the actions taken by companies as having a real impact on the environment (71% of answers); only a minority (29%) consider them to be instrumental in improving the image. Ipsos is also investigating which interventions could strengthen awareness of the importance of the circular economy among citizens. Among the most consistent responses: increased civic sense (59%), incentives for sustainable companies (59%), information campaigns for citizens (39%), sanctions and controls on companies (34%), investments in research subsidized by the State (32%). As many as 41 out of 100 people would like to live in a more sustainable way, but they consider it not “practical”. Another 28 find it difficult to follow sustainability principles in everyday life.
