Food Delivery, Just Eat: home delivery is booming + 59%, deliveries for 1.5 billion euros

The digital food delivery sector continues its unstoppable run, registering a growth of 59% compared to 2020 and generating a value of 1.5 billion euros. A push that today allows access to the service to 68% of the population and which is driven on the one hand by technological evolution, on the other by the acceleration due to the pandemic emergency, during which food delivery has proven to be one essential tool both for people and for catering. This is what emerges from the National Observatory on the online home delivery food market of the Just Eat app. In fact, in the last year + 50% of restaurants have chosen digital to expand their business and customers; in addition, a further 12% of expansion and strengthening of the territorial presence was recorded. The results that emerged first of all update the ranking of the kitchens most ordered by Italians, where pizza remains the undisputed queen, in the classic and timeless margherita, followed by the spicy diavola and the variegated capricciosa. On the podium the hamburger is confirmed again, with a preference for the cheeseburger, and the Japanese, which remains firm in third position thanks to the much-loved nigiri with salmon, uramaki ebiten and salmon sashimi. And if Chinese cuisine is placed in fourth place again, the first novelty, the Hawaiian poke, is in fifth position.
