A bamboo to offset our CO2 emissions by limiting, or even canceling, the carbon footprint of each of us. With this objective, the first BancaOssigeno in Italy opens, the heart of an ambitious project to save the planet and the new generations conceived and announced by Forever Bambù. The Italian company that plants giant bamboo and pushes on green projects has in fact joined forces with SaveHuman of Agape Onlus born in April 2020 with the aim of proposing concrete actions for the safeguard and protection of the planet. In concrete terms, with 125 bamboo canes we can absorb 1,100 kilos of CO2 per year, compared to an impact produced on average by every Italian – between transport, waste, food and lifestyles – equal to about 5,200 kilos of CO2. The path starts on the SaveHuman website where from today “it is possible to buy the absorption of one’s carbon footprint and become, by supporting the initiative, ‘Ambassadors’ of the project conceived in collaboration with Forever Bambù” underline the creators. SaveHuman has reserved 54 lots of 8 square meters, for a total of 432 square meters, inside the Forever Bambù bamboo grove, in Casale Monferrato in the province of Alessandria. Once the CO2 absorption rights have been sold, this area will constitute a real forest dedicated to the Ambassadors, or to the members of the project. The forest will rise next to the one being planted for the ActNow project, the United Nations campaign of which Forever Bambù is a partner and which calls for individual actions in favor of sustainability and the fight against climate change. Forever Bambù will also donate 10 euros to SaveHuman for each lot sold. Dario Maggioli, entrepreneur, philanthropist and founder of Agape Onlus, tells how the idea was born: “One night I woke up suddenly. I have two children and I thought that if one day my children had asked me: ‘Daddy you you could have done something for me and you didn’t, why? ‘ What would I have answered? Since that night I have never stopped thinking about this project. For me, for my wife, for them and for all those who believe they can change the fate of the world, of human beings, and so SaveHuman was born ” . It is possible to invest in three different types of Oxygen Banks: Mini, Medium and Maxi. For the BancaOssigeno mini, starting from a simple seedling, called the mother plant, at the eighth year of age, thanks to the rhizomatic growth of the initial plant, a bamboo grove of 25 reeds that will absorb 220 kilos of CO2 a year. The mini oxygen bank covers an area of 8 square meters – a batch of bamboo groves – and, when fully operational, guarantees a production of food sprouts equal to 8 kilos a year and reeds equal to 200 kilos a year. Banca Ossigeno Media occupies three lots and therefore triples the positive impact and, starting with only 3 initial seedlings, creates a bamboo grove of 75 reeds with an absorption of 660 kilos of CO2 per year. The surface in this case is 24 square meters, the production of food sprouts of 24 kilos a year and the production of canes of 600 kilos a year. Finally, the Oxygen Bank Maxi, equivalent to 5 lots, occupies 40 square meters which, planted with 5 mother seedlings, will host a bamboo grove of 125 reeds with an absorption of 1100 kg of CO2 per year. The production of food sprouts will be equal to 40 kilos per year and the production of canes of 1000 kilos per year. A significant figure, the latter, if we consider that an Italian on average impacts an amount equal to about 5,200 kilos of CO2 due to transport, waste, food and lifestyles. A quantity that would therefore be lowered by 20% each year, with Banca Ossigeno Maxi. “The project conceived with SaveHuman is coherent and fully reflects Forever Bambù’s ethical commitment in its strategic choices” comments Emanuele Rissone, president of Forever Bambù. “The competitive advantage of our offer then – he assures – is unrivaled: in the only eight square meters available for Banca Ossigeno Mini, for example, there will be as many as 25 bamboo plants for the next hundred years, and above all the trees are Italy, just as there is a job market in Italy that we guarantee “. The resulting sprouts and canes will be resold and used for industrial and food purposes, while each Ambassador will receive a diploma in recognition of his commitment and will also be able to give the Ossigeno Bank to friends and family. On the SaveHuman website there will then be a ‘challenge’ with the ranking of the Ambassadors who will have involved more friends or who have purchased more lots, and who will be able to receive numerous prizes.
