Brunetta to the mayors: “You are in the trenches, I want to abolish the crime of abuse of office”

“Municipalities are like trenches and mayors are often not in a position to work well”. This is the opinion of Renato Brunetta, Minister for Public Administration who, speaking in video link to the Anci assembly in Parma, explained that he had tried to “respond to the cry of pain of the mayors” with a series of measures that he listed point by point, some already in place, others in the making in the budget law. But among the various measures there is one in particular that he would like to carry out: “The abolition of the crime of abuse of office, let’s see if I can do it” he admitted. The minister’s words were followed by the reaction of Matteo Ricci, Ali national president and Pd mayor of Pesaro. “We welcome Minister Brunetta’s words on the abuse of office. Brunetta is very much in tune with the mayors in this historic moment for the country. Now, however, the government and parliament move on to the facts”. “We are calling for a radical reform of the crime of abuse of office” which will be discussed at the open National Council of Ali on November 24 in Rome.
