To improve water resources in the South, Mims tender of 313 million

Reduce the dispersion of water in the South, make water distribution networks more efficient in the territories of the Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Puglia and Sicily regions and bridge the territorial gap in a sector of vital importance for citizens. These are the objectives of the call of the Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructures and Mobility published in the Official Gazette and on the basis of which, within 45 days, the Area Bodies of the five Southern Regions will be able to present projects aimed at improving the quality and management of the service. . The call has a value of 313 million euros: European resources of the React Eu program made available by the Minister for the South and Territorial Cohesion and managed by the Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructures and Mobility as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. These are European funds from the Pon Infrastructure and Networks 2014-2021. “The reduction of water losses in the distribution networks is one of the main challenges for the South of the country”, declared Minister Enrico Giovannini. It is in fact a fundamental objective inserted among the reforms envisaged by the NRP. It is necessary – underlines Minister Giovannini – to strengthen the industrialization process of the sector with the establishment of integrated operators, public or private, with the aim of achieving economies of scale and guaranteeing the efficient management of a sector that is still fragmented and complex today. “This call is a first response to a problem that affects the quality of life and the development potential of the South,” adds Minister Carfagna. “Thanks to the investments of the European Union and to the plan that we as the Italian government have prepared as part of React Eu, there is finally the possibility of starting to improve the management of water resources at the service of southern citizens. I hope for a quick and effective response from the Bodies to make the most of this opportunity ”, he concluded.
