Many stories of people who overcame the coronavirus were already circulating in Slovakia. Some ended happily, others, on the contrary, sad. Former football player Vladimír Goffa is one of those who overcame the fight with the coronavirus. At present, he has decided to show people what the fight against the disease looked like and what he had to skip over everything – in the form of notebooks.

It all started at the beginning of March this year. “March 1, 2021. Something is creeping up on me. And it doesn’t have a skirt or a bra. I feel bad. Volcano. I’m wondering if I should go for a PCR test. It’s not an IQ test, I could handle it. I’m a non-smoker and a non-smoker, a former athlete, I’m not sick, “ said Goffa at the beginning of his story. He then transferred three days later – at that time he learned that he had a positive PCR test for coronavirus.

He also informed the general practitioner about this negative report and bought medicines for home self-medication. However, they did not work for him. He also had an oximeter on his finger that checked the level of saturation in his blood – how much oxygen he had in his blood. In a healthy person, this value is 100%, and Goffa knew very well what would happen if this value dropped significantly. “I know so much that when it drops deeper below 90 (it currently moves around this value), I can start wearing a black suit and black patent leather and check out all cable cars. I will take a selfie on the party (attached photo) and wait for what will happen. I measure my temperature every hour, temperature records are falling, ” he pointed to the time when his condition began to deteriorate rapidly.

According to him, he was extremely weak. Almost a week later, the situation was so critical that he decided to call an ambulance. After answering all the questions and reporting his details, the operator on the line allegedly recommended that he wait a few more hours. He obeyed her, but after his temperatures rose sharply again, he called the ambulance again – and again he had to undergo a “torture” of reporting data. He then waited for the ambulance.

“Two rescuers will ring. It annoys me that I’m all dogalamated by fever, but they’re rewriting all the data and information I’ve dictated to the operator twice before. They measure my pressure, temperature, saturation and take me to the hospital. I point to the bag where I packed my things for hospitalization. No need, I wave my hand. From the third floor it’s hard to climb the stairs, it’s waiting for me in an ambulance, “ He said Goffa, saying that the rescuers allegedly did not help him and did not pay attention to him, whether he would fall by chance. According to him, he had “stability as Neymar in the penalty area” at the time.

Goff is known to have been in hospital for three months, battling coronavirus for more than four months, and postcovide syndrome for several more months. During his stay in the hospital, where he was also connected to artificial lung ventilation and artificial sleep for several days, he lost 25 pounds and had to learn to walk again.
