Russian filmmakers returned from space station as the first to shoot in space – PRAVDA.sk

The Soyuz spacecraft delivered Russian cosmonaut Oleg Novicky and two film crew members – director Klim Šipenko and actress Julia Peresiľdová to Earth on Sunday morning, who shot the film during a week-long stay at the International Space Station (ISS).

The landing module, with the help of a parachute, landed softly in the steppe approximately 148 kilometers southeast of the Kazakh city of Jazkazgan at 06.35 CET, as planned.

At that time, helicopters of search teams were already circling in the immediate vicinity of the crash site. The landing was broadcast live by the Russian state space agency Roscosmos.

Actress Peresilda and director Shipenko went on their mission on October 5, so they spent 12 days in space. They have been preparing for the flight since May in the Russian cosmonaut training center, undergoing technical, physical and mental training.

Their job was to shoot some parts of the film on the ISS about the nurse they would take to the space station to rescue a crew member who had a heart failure and needed an urgent operation in orbit.

Along with Peresilda and Shipenko, cosmonaut Oleg Novicki, who has been working on the ISS since April, has returned to Earth. Another Russian cosmonaut, Anton Škaplerov, flew into space with them.

Novickij and Škaplerov, as well as their third colleague on the ISS, Piotr Dubrov, played in the film. In addition to the latter two Russians, Americans Mark Vande Hei, Shane Kimbrough and Megan McArthur, Frenchman Thomas Pesquet and Japanese Akihiko Hoshide remained at the orbital base after Soyuz’s departure, according to the AP agency.

The capsule with the filmmakers originally appeared above the Kazakh steppe as a small dot in the clouds, the last kilometers were parachuted to Earth. “Welcome home,” the Russian space agency Roskosmos wrote on Twitter. According to her, the crew is doing well after a few hours of flying.

The film space journey can also serve as an advertisement that could attract young people to work in space. However, he has his critics who do not like the fact that so much money was put into a film project instead of research. The price of the event Roskosmos did not disclose, the head of the agency Dmitry Rogozin hopes that revenues from future flights of space tourists will help cover the costs.

With this project of the first “live” filming in space, the Russians have surpassed the USA, as it is known that Tom Cruise also wants to fly film into space and should fly with a SpaceX rocket.
