‘The Art Room by Samsung’ opens the doors to new artistic scenarios

When technology meets art, new languages take shape and the works become accessible to an ever wider audience. This is the mission of Samsung, which today presented the project “The Art Room by Samsung”, created in collaboration with the internationally renowned art curator Caroline Corbetta. A collection of six exclusive works of art in which the company’s technological ecosystem has become an instrument and enabler to generate new ways of making art and unprecedented ways of fruition, capable of creating a closeness and connection with the public hitherto unimaginable. With this curatorial project, Samsung confirms and strengthens its commitment to supporting the dissemination of art to the general public through its technological ecosystem. An approach based on the culture of innovation, in which technology applied to the art world on the one hand becomes the enabler of increasingly unique and valuable experiences that users can live in the comfort of their own home, on the other it aims to enhance the young talents, offering them a privileged showcase where they can express their creativity. “At Samsung we strongly believe that technology can marry art and we have always valued this union. Precisely in the year of the celebration of our thirtieth anniversary in Italy, we wanted to create a new project that, by mixing technology, creativity and art, could realize our claim ‘Do What You Can’t’ to inspire and shape the future “, he declared Francesco Cordani, Head of MarCom of Samsung Electronics Italia. “The moment we are experiencing has further underlined how technology can concretely help access to the world of art, where virtual use can be complementary to the physical one, offering an even more engaging experience to the public. We are happy to be able to contribute, with this new project, to making artistic beauty accessible to everyone, everywhere “. The genesis of the project “The Art Room by Samsung” “The Art Room by Samsung” looks at the world of contemporary art with the aim, on the one hand, of supporting the company’s commitment to the territory and Italian talent, from ‘other than to give life to new artistic languages that know how to speak to today’s young people, in whose everyday life technology plays a leading role. Exceptional partner of the project is Caroline Corbetta, curator who in 2017 founded a “digital kunsthalle” on Instagram and which has distinguished itself over time for its commitment to scouting for talents and their promotion to the general public. Through her privileged observation point on the Italian art scene, the curator was able to identify six young artists who created original works with the aid of new tools such as the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G smartphone and the Galaxy Tab S7 + tablet, inspired by Samsung’s values. as innovation and connected living. “As a curator my goal is to experiment, innovate exhibition formats and push the boundaries of the art system a little further to make it more accessible. I think I succeeded with the ‘The Art Room’ project, in which the Samsung digital ecosystem becomes a medium and support for the work of art, opening new expressive possibilities to artists and allowing people to enjoy art even at home. The technological innovation available to artistic talent contributes to opening our daily life to wonder “. Filippo Bisagni, Barbara De Vivi, Alessandro Fogo, Ozmo, Caterina Rossato and Marta Spagnoli, these are the six artists who accepted Samsung’s challenge: to explore new frontiers in which the paradigms of art creation and fruition of works are changed, with technology as an enabler of this process. The innovative Galaxy mobile devices were the main tools within the creative process of the artists. In fact, each of them has created their own work of art using the large high-definition displays of Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G and Galaxy Tab S7 +, used as real digital drawing boards. The stroke precision of the S Pen supported artists in the production of artistic creations by allowing precise editing of high-resolution images. The devices were then also used to develop exclusive contents of the making-of of his work and for a reportage of the project. The new Samsung The Frame, not a traditional TV, but a creative digital canvas and a multimedia artistic platform, becomes instead the access point to the works created by the artists, which will be available exclusively in the Art Store digital gallery, guaranteeing a visual experience of the highest quality and great involvement in 4K resolution. The Frame’s extensive Art Store catalog has always aimed to democratize art and give consumers the opportunity to discover works that arouse emotions and reflections, but also for artists to reach a wide audience and bring their creativity directly. in people’s homes The six unpublished works by Filippo Bisagni, Barbara De Vivi, Alessandro Fogo, Ozmo, Caterina Rossato and Marta Spagnoli, can be previewed from 8 to 10 October at the Samsung Smart Arena in Milan, and will be available inside the Art Store of The Frame. The works will also be visible on the samsung.com website, where they will be reproduced in the form of a multimedia catalog. Samsung’s commitment to the art world There are several projects that Samsung has carried out in its path of creation, education, amplification and accessibility to the art world. Among the most recent is Missing Masterpieces, which has made iconic masterpieces accessible – 12 works of art, created by some of the most famous artists in the world, such as Van Gogh, Cézanne and Monet – stolen and never found again, available on The Frame to be admired by anyone, wherever they are. The initiative was not only intended to make known masterpieces no longer visible in museums, but also to find them, through the involvement of the public of the network, creating a sort of word of mouth that would allow the construction of clues and evidence to help the discovery of the lost works.Creating a divergent project, thinking out of the ordinary to get to define a design that breaks the traditional patterns with which we usually imagine a refrigerator, is instead the challenge launched to four artists recently chosen to create real unique pieces by Samsung Bespoke, the refrigerator with a refined aesthetic and infinite customization possibilities that the company has just launched on the Italian market. Not just technology, performance and energy efficiency, but an artistic reinterpretation of the product that starting from the panels and imagining them as canvases led to the creation of 4 real unique pieces, transforming them into a real work of art.
