Linate massacre: survivor, ‘every day is October 8th, little remembered massacre’

“I live in and out of hospitals, for me every day is October 8. I’m sorry that this massacre is not remembered enough”. With these words, entrusted to Adnkronos, Pasquale Padovano, the only survivor of the Linate massacre, recalls the accident 20 years ago. 118 people died in that accident: the four aboard the Cessna, 110 passengers and crew members of the Scandinavian plane and four employees, baggage handling staff, who were working inside the hangar. Padovano, an employee of the Sea, was in the hangar where the plane finished its run and caught fire. His face and body still bear the marks of the accident. Four months of coma, other months of intensive care, a very long list of surgeries have not erased the horror of the flames. And he asks that the memory of the victims remain impressed. “I would be very much in favor of putting a stele, a monument, at the entrance of Linate airport, so that no one can forget. I would like to read the names of the victims, it would be a right way to remember who is no longer there”, he concludes .
