Squid Game: the creator of the Netflix series is working on a controversial season 2 – Hitek.fr

A tense subject

Since its release, Squid Game spills a lot of ink. I have to say that Netflix’s South Korean series is extremely embarrassing. The least we can say is that the Korean director risks tackling a very delicate subject. Whether in Korea, the United States or France, relations between the police and the population are sometimes very strained. Recent films about the police, like the documentary A country that stands wise by David Dufresne and the film BAC North, have also revived the debates in France.

Either way, this season 2 project with the theme of Korean police dysfunction reminds us how deeply political Korean cinema and television are. Following the collapse of the dictatorship in 1992, many filmmakers emerged, proposing a very social discourse, often Marxist, like the directors Park Chan-wook (Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, miss) and Bong Joon-ho (Memories of Murder, Parasite).
