Greta Thunberg in Milan for the ‘Youth4Climate’

Greta Thunberg arrived at the Mico in Milan for the ‘Youth4Climate’, which officially starts today, to discuss and work on a negotiating paper on climate change in view of Cop26 in Glasgow. Arriving by train from Frankfurt, Greta refused the escort and, with her backpack on her shoulder, she lined up for the controls. Thunberg will open the works together with the other young activist Vanessa Nakate and over 400 young people from all over the world have gathered in Milan. It is the first time that, thanks to Italy which has proposed this event to the UN within the COP26 calendar, organized in partnership with the United Kingdom, young people will pass from protest to proposal in the name of climate protection and The first two days will be dedicated to thematic working groups, while the third day will be held a debate between young people and ministers participating in the Pre-Cop26. The negotiating charter for young people will address four issues: climate ambition; sustainable recovery; involvement of non-state actors; a society more aware of climate challenges. The proposals that will be put forward by young people will be made available for subsequent international negotiations relating to the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, for debates within Ecosoc and UNFCC.
