Slovak forward Tomas Tatar begins his new chapter in his career. In New Jersey, with whom he has agreed on a two-year contract, he is looking forward to playing with talented young strikers and has good feelings before the 2021/22 season.

“I know a lot of players from previous positions or I played against them in previous seasons. We have a very exciting young team with a lot of talent. Already after a few skates in front of the camp, I noticed that they look very handy. The skills are here. It’s a new challenge, a new team, but I’m very excited and I love it here so far. Everyone is nice to me and I feel very good, “ revealed Tatar.

Tatar has been in Montreal for three years, with the first two being extremely successful. The third, however, ended in a difficult breakup when he dropped out of the line-up in the playoffs. He accepted it, but was angry because he wanted to play and believed he would help the team, especially in the final series against Tampa. Now he also takes it as motivation.

“My job is to show how big a mistake it was. I quite believe in what I can do on the ice and how I can help the team fight for the playoffs or get it there. I’ve been working harder this summer to come here ready and show what I can do. “ said Tatar.

Last season was challenging for Dubnican because he played in the Northern Division, which consisted only of Canadian teams. Because Canada is vast, traveling has not been easy. That’s why he chose New Jersey. This is one of the teams that travel the least. He is also looking forward to seeing spectators in the stands. He is a player who draws energy from them.

The Devils have not advanced to the playoffs in the last three seasons, and last year they finished in the penultimate, seventh place in the Eastern Division. However, Tatar is optimistic about the new year. The team made changes and the young men matured a bit more again.
