Sardinia Grand Prix motorboating, Carpitella-Bacchi win race-1

Giovanni Carpitella and Andrea Bacchi on “Gasbeton” won race-1 of the World Championship Class 3D & FIM Offshore 5000, queen trial of the FIM Sardinia Grand Prix of Motonautica, underway at the Porticciolo of Marina Piccola in Cagliari. Starting from the third position on the starting grid, Carpitella (53 year old from Venice) and Bacchi (25 year old from Reggio Emilia) dominated the test and led the “Banca Generali” of outgoing world champions Serafino Barlesi and Alessandro Barone by 1’25 ”6. Third place at 2’03 ”3 for the French“ Spirit of Corsica ”by Francois Pinelli and Nicola Dall’Acqua. Following, fourth place for “Hoses Technology” by Diego Cardazzo and Giampaolo Montavoci, fifth place for “De Mitri” by Roberto Lo Piano and Ferdinando De Mitri, sixth place for “Foresti e Suardi” by Fabio Magnani and Michele Magnino and seventh for the “Marco”, representative of the United Arab Emirates, by Giovanni Casagni and Luca Vecchiori. Carpitella and Bacchi thus take home the 400 points of the first place, already a good heritage compared to Barlesi-Barone (300) and Pinelli-Dall’Acqua (225). The order of arrival today will therefore be the starting order of Race-2, while the reverse order of arrival of the latter will determine the grid of the final Race-3 on Sunday. Obviously satisfied with the result Carpitella: “It may seem like a race dominated given the gaps, but it wasn’t like that. We started strong on the first lap, then they had problems behind, the advantage increased and then we managed a bit, then we saw that they were regaining and then we went back to shooting.
