The prosecutor proposed to Dušan Kováčik a sentence of 13 years – Pluska.sk

The most important statements against Kováčik were to be made by the former head of the Criminal Office of the Financial Administration, Ľudovít Makó, and Matej Zeman from Takáčov. Both allegedly claim that Zeman gave poor František Böhm 100,000 euros and that he should have sent this amount through Makó. Kováčik 50 thousand euros, secured Kudlička’s release from custody. Another important piece of evidence is the inspections of home and office premises belonging to Kováčik. They allegedly found files and documents that had nothing to do with Kováčik. It was allegedly the case of the entrepreneur Norbert Bödör, the files on the Technopol case – which is connected with the entrepreneur Marian Kočner, the case of Kudlička, but also the statement of Zoltán Andruskó.

In the video you can hear the verdict for Kováčik:

Kováčik points out the discrepancies in Zeman’s statements. It is said that together with Böhm they changed the statement several times before the money reached Kováčik. The former special prosecutor and his lawyers proposed additional evidence, but the self-judge Pamela Záleská no longer seemed irrelevant, so the evidence ended. The judgment is to be handed down by the Specialized Criminal Court (ŠTS) today at 4 pm, unless the situation from the morning, when someone reported a bomb on the ŠTS, is repeated. The prosecutor unconditionally proposed 13 years to the defendant!

Kováčik became a special prosecutor in 2004 and was often criticized for his inaction. He is also known to the public as “Lord 61: 0”, with the numbers indicating the proportion of cases he has handled and prosecuted. In July 2020, however, he was to file the first indictment after ten years, so he was “Mr. 61: 1”. However, on October 22 last year, police detained him in connection with his alleged assistance to a criminal group of such people and other crimes. At the beginning of November 2020, he was also charged in the Purgatory case from the establishment, formation and support of a criminal group and the abuse of power by a public official. A few days later, he resigned as special prosecutor. In the summer, the main hearing on his first indictment began, which will end today with a verdict at the SC.

Single judge Pamela Záleská found Dušan Kováčik guilty. According to the verdict, he was to accept a bribe from Mako sent to him at least once by a group of such people. According to the verdict, Kováčik was to take a bribe from Makó in the amount of 50 thousand euros for helping the freedom of such a boss, Ľubomír Kudliček.. This happened in 2017.

Kováčik is also guilty of bringing Makó’s classified documents from the investigation file. Specifically, this is information from the investigation into the order for the murder of NAKA member Ján Čurilla! Kováčik finally received a higher sentence than suggested by the prosecutor! The judge decided that he had an ex special prosecutor to stay behind bars for up to 14 years! Kováčik also lost his property.

Robert Fico, the head of Smer, and Ľuboš Blaha, a left-wing MP, were also present in the room during the reading of the verdict.

In the grounds of the judgment, Záleská states that during the hearing the court gave together, on the basis of the testimony of witnesses, time data on when what happened. “It simply came to our notice then. The defendant committed them, “the judge added. She also explained how she took into account the testimonies of the penitents Makó, Zeman, Dömötör and Norbert Paksi: “The institute of a cooperating witness has been used for many years. We have experience with that. “

The judge also referred to documentary evidence. One of them was a letter from former Attorney General Jaromír Čižnár to the Ministry of Justice, from which it is clear that he was not satisfied with the procedure of the special prosecutor’s office after the release of Kudlička from custody. Another was an official record written by prosecutor Blanka Godžová. After Kováčik’s appeal, she should not have filed a complaint against the release of Kudlička from custody.

Decision is not valid. Kováčik appealed in the case against all statements of guilt and punishment. He also appealed against the proceedings preceding the judgment.

We will update the report.
