Braňo Ondruš: Mičev is a serious obstacle for Minister Milan – PRAVDA.sk

As the editor-in-chief of Bojovník, you will know many people from the environment of the SNP Museum. How do they perceive the removal of Stanislav Mičev from the position of director?

Unfortunately, many people are not surprised. Since her inception, the Minister has clearly expressed her opposition to the SNP Museum and its director. The visible proof is that she never visited this museum. When she came up with the perverse idea of ​​liquidating the SNP Museum by moving it under the Ministry of Defense, and Stanislav Mičev publicly opposed it, it was clear that he would “execute” it.

All of us who understand the meaning and role of the SNP Museum are appalled by what the Minister will stand for. When she deliberately cut the annual subsidy for the central celebrations of the SNP, I understood that it was not only an expression of her personal attitude to the democratic and anti-fascist traditions of Slovakia, but also a verdict on the head of the museum. Mičev’s dismissal is just another of the minister’s fools, who equally ranked at the level of Mečiar’s Hudec.

In an interview with Pravda, Mičev stated that the whole rosary around the SNP Museum is just a political bluff, which they have no reason to justify, and he is just a burden. Do you agree with this statement?

The fighter proved in detail that Minister Milanová is constantly lying about the liquidation of the SNP Museum. In Monday’s statement, she lied again because there is no expert in Slovakia – a museum or historian – who would support what he is doing with the SNP Museum. We haven’t found a single one in half a year, and we really address that topic in every issue.

It is a primitive political decision, which is also proved by the fact that neither the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic nor the Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic can answer many key questions about the further position and functioning of this vault, which will pass under the Ministry of Defense. Minister Naď behaves like the Stalinist Minister of Defense Alexej Čepička, who also wanted to get everything under his control. It is clear that in such a situation, a rational expert with many years of experience is a serious obstacle, as he can reliably reveal the power political motives of this decision and is not afraid to talk about them openly.

An international conference on Nazism and Fascism is taking place this week, attended by several experts from abroad who are informed about the situation. How do you think this affects the image of Slovakia abroad?

We see that today. It was enough for the performances of foreign experts at the event About Them Without Them, which was organized by the Save the Culture initiative. All of them not only opposed the liquidation of the SNP Museum, directed by Milan and Naďa, but also professionally explained why it was in conflict with all current trends in the museum. Among historians and museologists abroad who have come into contact with the SNP Museum at least once, this is proof of the stupidity of management by the head of the Ministry of Culture. I have not yet encountered a different opinion.
