Vaucluse: children confined after “detonations” in a city of Cavaillon – franceinfo

Children were confined for an hour and a half in their school establishment, after a shooting which did not injure in the city of Doctor Ayme in Cavaillon (Vaucluse) on Tuesday September 21, reports France Blue Vaucluse.

At first, the town hall had mentioned several shots exchanged around 11 am this Tuesday morning. The departmental public security directorate subsequently clarified that at this stage it was a question of “detonations”. According to the first elements, no gunman was identified, no cartridge case was found on the spot and there were no injuries.

As a precaution, children from nearby schools were confined between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Some parents were exceptionally allowed to pick up their children earlier.

The minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin made the trip on August 16 last at the Cavaillon police station to evoke this sensitive city, plagued by settling of scores against a background of drug trafficking. Bands clash regularly quoted by Doctor Ayme.

Gérald Darmanin announced, during this trip, the arrival of five police officers from September 1 and the return of the night brigade, after two years of absence, from next year, as well as the punctual dispatch, but regular CRS in the neighborhood. He then indicated that in three months, in Cavaillon, 20 people had been arrested in connection with drug trafficking and 35 kilos of cannabis resin had been seized. During this visit to the Cavaillon police officers, the Minister of the Interior pointed the finger at cannabis users: “Without a consumer, there would be no traffic”, he had declared. He had called “to all take responsibility”.
