It’s getting worse. There are already 1,100 pupils in quarantine at Košice primary schools – Korzár Košice

KOŠICE. Disease covid-19 occurs in 50 pupils at 16 primary schools (elementary schools) in the founding authority of the city of Košice.

The municipality informed about it on its website, stating that there are 43 classes in quarantine.

Thus, 1,100 students are educated in a distance form.

There were 28 classes in quarantine last week.

According to the head of the education department of the Košice City Hall, Beáta Lopušniaková, from Monday, September 20, children from Kežmarská 30 and Krosnianská 2, who have been in quarantine practically since the beginning of the school year, can go to school again.

Covid also in the teaching staff

In addition to pupils, Košice also registers two teachers and one non-pedagogical employee with a positive test for covid-19.

“The worst situation is at the Krosnianska 4 primary school, where up to 15 pupils became ill,” Lopušniaková said, adding that from the beginning of this week, seven more classes had to start distance learning.

In total, almost 250 students are quarantined at this school.

“At 34 primary schools in our founding area in the whole of Košice, it is a total of 1,100, while a week ago there were only 700 of them,” she added.

The municipality recalls that the epidemiological situation in schools, as in the whole city, is deteriorating every day.

Lopušniaková therefore calls on all school staff, students and their parents to strictly follow all the recommendations and regulations of the Regional Office of Public Health and do their best to slow the spread of this disease.
