The man who opened fire during a health pass control, Saturday September 18 in Chambéry, was indicted and remanded in custody Monday September 20 for attempted assassination, reports France Bleu Pays de Savoie. During his 48 hours in police custody, the man in his fifties claimed to be anti-health pass. He also admitted to being the author of the shootings. Two security officers were injured, one in the hand and the other in the abdomen.

The premeditation of his gesture was retained, specifies the prosecutor of the Republic of Chambéry. After being refused access to the Verney park where the charity races against breast cancer were started, the suspect, in an advanced state of intoxication, had gone home to get a gun. He explained that he intended to target the legs of the two security guards.

Known to the police for acts of “violence with a weapon” and “drunk driving” in 2017 and 2018, the suspect had already been prosecuted by justice. In particular, he was sentenced in 2017 to a ban on holding a weapon for five years. According to the prosecution, he had a plan to go to the demonstration of opponents of the health pass which brought together 1,500 people in the city center of Chambéry on Saturday, September 18.
