The attacker fired outside the campus of Perm State University.

Eight people died in Monday’s shooting on the campus of Perm State University in the eastern European part of Russia. This was announced by the Committee of Inquiry of the Russian Federation, RIA Novosti and TASS informed.

“As a result of the (shooting), eight people died and several were injured. Exact information about victims and injured is being clarified, “said Svetlana Petrenková, a spokeswoman for the Committee of Inquiry.

The shooting on the campus of the university took place on Monday around 11.00 local time. The committee of inquiry later said the attacker was one of the school’s students who was shot dead by police in detention. According to the news portal RBK, the shooter is 18-year-old Timur Bekmansurov. Police prosecuted the assailant for murder.

According to the Russian Ministry of Health, at least 24 people were injured in the shooting and seven of them were hospitalized. The condition of one of the hospitalized is critical. However, the wounded did not only suffer gunshot wounds, as some were also injured when they jumped out of the windows in panic, according to the Interfax agency.

Russian President Vladimir Putin also expressed his sincere condolences to the survivors. At the same time, he ordered Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to send Minister of Education Valery Falkov and Minister of Health Mikhail Murašek to Perm to organize assistance for injured and survivors, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
