Vaccination obligation: nearly 450 caregivers from the Nice University Hospital suspended – LCI

The ultimatum has expired. Two months after its announcement by Emmanuel Macron, the vaccination obligation applies to the entire healthcare system, in the broad sense. Offenders are warned: without justifying a first injection, a vaccine contraindication or recent contamination, they “can no longer exercise their activity”, according to the law of August 5. This is the case in Nice, where hundreds of people have been sanctioned.

According to nice morning, “nearly 450 people were suspended by hospital management for not having presented a complete vaccination schedule”. A figure more than consequent, the CHU of the city counting approximately 7,500 personnel, of which 95% of vaccinated, according to the daily newspaper.

For them, this should result in the immediate suspension of the employment contract, without pay – unless they use days off to delay the deadline. According to the FO general secretary of the CHU de Nice, also departmental manager of the union for public and health services, “we will be forced to close services”.

How many are there in the rest of the country? Thousands no doubt, even if the estimates vary from simple to tenfold depending on the source. According to Public Health France, which is based on samples from Health Insurance, as of September 12, 89.3% of caregivers had received at least one dose in structures welcoming dependent elderly people (Ehpad, USLD). “There will be maybe 1% to 2% of suspensions”, believes Florence Arnaiz-Maumé, general secretary of Synerpa, which represents private nursing homes and expects “to around 3000 work contracts suspended in the coming days”.

“Do not give the impression that the suspensions will be massive, when it is quite the opposite”, assured the Minister for Autonomy, Brigitte Bourguignon, in an interview with Parisian. “I have visited a few nursing homes in recent days, and often there is still a caregiver to be vaccinated.”
