The vaccine is also rejected by some members of the college of cardinals, the pope said, adding that one of them, a “poor man”, was hospitalized after coronavirus infection. He added that in the Vatican, everyone is vaccinated with the exception of a “small group”.

Regarding calls for recognition of same-sex marriages, the pope stressed that “marriage is a sacrament and the church has no authority to change the sacraments as ordained by the Lord,” Vatican News quoted him as saying.
