The long nine-month wait for the competition match is over! Trnava coach Michal Gašparík has announced when he will use the services of 36-year-old former Slovak captain Martin Škrtel for the first time.

“Maťo Škrtel will start on Friday in the basic line-up, so we are counting on him for the whole match,” Gašparík said for YT Trnava canal after the cup victory 4: 0 in Pat.

The season ended for him and he definitely gave up the idea of returning to the national team before the European Championships.

In January, he terminated his contract with Basaksehir and focused on demanding convalescence. In mid-August, he sealed his return to Slovakia after 17 years. He solemnly signed a contract with FC Spartak Trnava.
