Primary environmentalist: EELV does not fear interference from the far right – The HuffPost

POLICY – This is it. The number of voters registered for the primary of environmentalists is known. In a press release released on Monday, September 13, EELV informed that 122,670 people have taken steps to decide Yannick Jadot, Sandrine Rousseau, Eric Piolle, Delphine Batho and Jean-Marc Governatori during the first round organized between September 16 and 19.

A success for the green party, which remembers the 32,000 registered for the primary between Nicolas Hulot and Eva Joly or the 17,000 for the 2016 primary. “We are doing almost 10 times more”, welcomes the HuffPost Sandra Regol, Deputy National Secretary of EELV. And the latter assures him, “these are clear inscriptions”.

In other words, voters who have been passed to the mill of Neovote, the provider who organizes this poll. Because for a few days, the noise of an interference coming from the extreme right, in order to parasitize the vote. This sunday on franceinfo, the spokesperson for the National Rally even said that he had registered.

“In general, the vote is secret, but you know that I am an elected representative of the North and out of solidarity with the North, I can only vote for Sandrine Rousseau (former vice-president of the regional council of Nord-Pas-de-Calais, editor’s note ), of course, ”said Sébastien Chenu, echoing the initiative launched by the Identitaire (and RN executive) Damien rieu, in order to push the candidacy of the ecofeminist, with the objective that the ecologists find themselves with the candidate considered the most radical.

“No massive entryism”

What to disrupt or tip the ballot? No environmentalist really believes it. “There is no point in worrying”, believes a relative of Yannick Jadot, who judges that the subject is “inherent in an open primary”. In 2016, for example, a journalist from World had his cat vote, without this having the slightest impact on the final result (the vote had finally been canceled). Five years later, and while the question of interference from another camp comes up with each open primary, environmentalists are calm with regard to the returns of their provider.

“The statistical filters used by Neovote show that there was no massive entryism, despite the speeches and media hype promising a fraud on the primary”, details Sandra Regol, specifying that the platform had “deleted some waves of problematic inscriptions ”, but in usual proportions.

The organizers of the primary will soon relaunch the 122,670 registered, by phone or email, to ensure that they intend to vote. The first round will take place between Thursday 16 and Sunday 19 September, the second between 25 and 28.
