Cruz-Banderas, Jimmy Page and Frammatino’s Calabria at the Lido

Second Italian film in competition today at the Venice Film Festival. The Milanese director of Calabrian origins Michelangelo Frammartino presents ‘Il Buco’, a film dedicated to the enterprise of a group of Turin speleologists in the Pollino Park, who will discover the deepest cave in Southern Italy confronting the wonder of the old shepherds of the place. And on the red carpet with Frammartino the speleologists who participated in the undertaking will parade, there are two other films that ensure the arrival of some superstars. In fact, ‘Competencia oficial’ by Gastón Duprat and Mariano Cohn will also be in competition, with Penélope Cruz, who after Almodovar’s opening film where she plays a photographer becomes a director here, and with Antonio Banderas and Oscar Martínez. These are films about cinema that tell the story of a millionaire greedy for notoriety who wants at all costs to produce a successful film. The documentary ‘Becoming Led Zeppelin’, Bernard MacMahon’s documentary on the rise of the band, will also be out of competition, and for the occasion it is rumored that the legendary guitarist Jimmy Page is arriving at the beach. Also out of competition, Edgar Wright’s psychological thriller ‘Last night in Soho’ will be presented with Anya Taylor-Joy and Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie, which will be preceded by the award to Marcus Rowland of the Campari Passion for Film Award.
