Delta, Modern variant: “Data on the efficacy of the third vaccine dose”

The third dose of Moderna vaccine works against the Delta variant. The company, manufacturer of one of the coronavirus mRna vaccines, has announced that it has presented the first data on the administration of the third dose of the anti Covid vaccine to the US FDA. The ‘booster’ dose was administered to a group of subjects who had received the second dose at least 6 months earlier and who had shown a marked decline in antibody titer. The results, a company statement informs, “show a robust antibody response against the delta variant.” The relative documentation will be presented to the EMA in a few days. “We are thrilled to begin the data submission process for our booster dose. Our submission is supported by the data,” says Stephane Bancel, CEO of Moderna, adding that the third dose “highlights a robust response against the Delta variant. We continue. to work to stay ahead of the virus and monitor the epidemiological evolution of SARS-CoV-2. We will continue to produce data and share it transparently to support governments and regulators as they make evidence-based decisions about future vaccination”.
