Futuro Vegetal: the group that seeks the end of the meat industry and that has stuck to ‘Las Majas’ by Goya in the Prado

In their ideology they explain that “in the face of a consumerist, globalized and interdependent society, which fails in the management of natural resources and seeks its own benefit despite the consequences of the Climate Crisis, we propose to change the ethic of abundance, the way of produce and consume, focusing on food security and land redistribution. The fight against the Climate Crisis has to be the number one priority. Therefore, they demand that the Government end subsidies for livestock and use them to promote ” socially and ecologically responsible alternatives based on plants to face the necessary change of the food system”. Future Vegetal advocates for civil resistance and a “culture of courage”. “It is necessary to confront the system and show its contradictions, as well as do everything in our power to stop an industry that kills us. Institutions have failed. We have no alternative,” they say. The group outlines a series of ideas for ” change the world”, which includes the Rebellion or Extinction of Spain. To do this, they propose to promote critical thinking, justice, solidarity, autonomy and collaboration.Autumn of protestsAmong the actions planned for this autumn, there is the joint dismantling of the meat industry. In recent months, they have taken their protests to the electoral campaign in Andalusia, the PSOE headquarters in Madrid or the doors of the Ministry of Culture in the capital of Spain, whose facade was covered in red paint.
