In the first round, he precisely mastered the steepest passage, in which he smoothly passed the closed gates and thanks to this, he brought high speed to the final, flatter part. In the downhill position between the last goals, he further emphasized his lead. The Norwegian Lucas Braathen (+0.41) and Kranjec (+0.69) came close to him, the lack of other competitors started above eight tenths of a second. Adam Žampa took to the track with starting number 26. He made a big mistake after the first split in the approach to the slope, which cost him precious time. However, he was able to correct it and regained his speed, he went through the lower passage excellently and managed to make it to the second round. Kristoffersen fought from sixth position and although he almost fell on the inside ski during the approach to the slope, with a fierce ride he got into the lead, from where only Kranjec pushed him away. Braathen dropped to fourth position. Despite minor mistakes, Odermatt maintained a commanding lead on the difficult track and celebrated his twelfth victory and jubilee 30th podium finish at SP events. In Sölden, he defended his triumph from a year ago. “I’m glad I could come back here. I wasn’t sure if the lead from the first round would be enough for me, it was a tough fight.
