The situation in Kherson is tense: Residents are urged to evacuate, harsh statements from Ukraine – Novy Chas

On Saturday, the pro-Russian authorities in the Kherson region in the south of Ukraine called on the residents of the city of Kherson to evacuate “immediately” due to the advancing Ukrainian counter-offensive. TASR informs on the basis of a report by the AFP agency. “Due to the tense situation on the front, the increased danger of mass shelling of the city and the threat of terrorist attacks, all civilians must immediately leave the city and move to the left bank of the Dnieper River,” pro-Russian officials wrote on the social network. Kherson Oblast is one of the four partially occupied administrative territorial units – regions – in Ukraine that Moscow recently annexed in violation of international law. On Wednesday, pro-Russian authorities began evacuating civilians there. According to them, the current Ukrainian attacks on the civilian infrastructure in Kherson represent “a direct threat to the lives of the residents”. Ukrainian officials condemn the evacuation of civilians, calling it similar to Stalin’s mass deportations and part of Russian war propaganda.
