Prime Minister Eduard Heger reacts to GP Žilinka: I have to express myself, he is not acting in the interest of Slovakia, – Noviny.sk

BRATISLAVA / It seems that even Prime Minister Eduard Heger has run out of patience with the Prosecutor General. In the opinion that was sent to the editors, the Office of the Government strongly criticizes Maroš Žilinka precisely because of his press conference today. “I do not comment on the standard actions of law enforcement authorities and I respect their decisions. However, it is the prime minister’s task to express himself and react in cases where any state authority does not act in the interest of Slovakia,” Prime Minister Eduard Heger said in his statement. Heger emphasized that although he has enough work, he also has additional duties to monitor the Prosecutor General. “Mr. Prosecutor General is right in that I have many other problems that I have to think about. But that does not mean that I can take some of his statements and positions lightly,” Heger noted, noting that this also concerns the situation with paragraph 363, or statements about the defense agreement with the USA, “which Mr. Prosecutor General compared to the occupation agreement from 1968, or about the spread of propaganda disinformation, as was the case of the cemetery in the village of Ladomirová.” “I considered all the mentioned cases to be entitled to a reaction. The General Prosecutor’s Office must be an impartial and independent body that represents the rights of our citizens. However, only the President or members of the National People’s Republic of Slovakia have the right to file a disciplinary motion against the General Prosecutor based on relevant legal grounds.” concluded Heger.
