South Korea, blockchain-based documents on the way

South Korea could allow its citizens to use a blockchain-based digital identity document (ID) in place of physical cards. The launch of digital identity documents is scheduled for 2024, with around 45 million citizens expected to adopt the technology within two years. According to an Oct.17 report from Bloomberg, a government plan calls for digital IDs to be embedded as apps on mobile devices in the future, functioning similar to resident physical registration cards.
