Death Maddalena Urbani, prosecutor asks for two sentences of 21 and 14 years

Two sentences of 21 and 14 years were requested by the prosecutor Pietro Pollidori in the trial on the death of Maddalena Urbani, the twenty-one-year-old daughter of the doctor-hero Carlo Urbani who first isolated the Sars virus, who died from an overdose of methadone on March 27 2021, in a house in the Cassia area, in the capital. The highest sentence, at 21 years in prison, was for Abdulaziz Rajab, the Syrian pusher, accused of voluntary murder with possible intent. For Kaoula El Haouzi, a friend of the victim, accused of complicity in murder, the prosecutor instead asked for 14 years with the recognition of generic extenuating circumstances. “The preliminary investigation confirmed the choice of the charge”, said during the indictment the prosecutor who retraced the facts, from Maddalena’s arrival from Perugia to Rome until her death. The victim’s mother and brother, represented by the lawyer Giorgio Beni, are the civil party in the trial.
