Government, pensions: 4 hypotheses not to return to the Fornero law

Without a new provision on pensions, from January 1st we return to the Fornero law. A hypothesis that the new center-right government, above all due to the push of the Northern League wing, wants to avert. The problem, as always when it comes to pensions, is the sustainability of the intervention and of the entire social security system. The new government led by Giorgia Meloni is not yet in office but already knows that one of the first dossiers it will have to face will be this. There are currently four options on the table. Quota 41. It is the quota for contributions that would indicate a new legislative intervention. It could be anchored to a registry threshold to reduce costs, estimated in the version without age restrictions at at least 4 billion already in the first year. Penalties and prizes. Another option is to provide for exits with 62 years and 35 years of contributions and penalties of the salary quota under the limit of 66 years. On the contrary, over the age of 66 there would be rewards. ‘Correct’ woman option. Another possible intervention is the correction of the so-called ‘Woman option’. Pension at 58 years (59 for self-employed women) and 35 years of contributions bound, however, to the contribution recalculation of the allowance (and consequent average reduction of the amount of 20-25%). The hypothesis would also include the extension to men, starting however from 62 years as a minimum threshold. Extension and new reform. In this case, the immediate extension of ‘Female Option’ and ‘Social Ape’ is envisaged but subsequently intervening, after a discussion with the trade unions, with an ad hoc decree to reform pensions.
