It is a movement that is developing among large French companies, some of which are making record profits: LVMH, Stellantis, Air France… Several large French groups have announced in recent weeks exceptional bonuses or wage increases to support the purchasing power of their employees, diminished by inflation and the energy crisis. Here are some of the main announcements. LVMH The luxury group LVMH and its various brands announced Thursday, September 29 the payment of a bonus of between 1,000 and 1,500 euros to 27,000 employees whose gross annual salary is less than 60,000 euros. This amount is in addition to the 600 to 1,000 euros of exceptional bonus already paid in January 2022, specifies LVMH in a press release. All employees will also have the opportunity to monetize up to three days of RTT, or 400 euros on average for a worker and 600 euros for a manager. The bonus, however, did not calm the anger at Stellantis, several factories having walked out the day after the announcement while the company has excellent financial results. SNCF The SNCF railway group has “raised salaries by almost 6% on average” since the start of the year, assured the management, with in particular an increase of 3.1% on average in fixed salaries in July, with a retroactive effect from April 1, a bonus of 400 euros and an increase in the holiday allowance. Bouygues Bouygues will pay a “value sharing bonus” of between 500 and 1,000 euros depending on salary. “In addition to the annual salary review”, salaries increased in December 2021, March 2022 and September 2022 for an increase of more than 6% in remuneration over one year in France, all measures combined, says the group. Carrefour The management of Carrefour proposed at the end of last week a 2.5% increase in wages on November 1 in addition to the allocation of a bonus of 100 euros, also extending until March 31 the discount on the purchase of 12% benefiting employees. La Poste The La Poste group announced in September an additional 1.5% increase in wages, in addition to the 2.5% increase in mandatory annual negotiations (NAO) or the revaluation of the index point for civil servant postal workers. Macif The insurer Macif will pay 1,000 euros in October 2022 then 500 euros in January 2023 and announced a “general increase in wages in 2023”, the terms of which remain to be negotiated. Air France Air France granted a 5% salary increase to all its employees in mid-September, together with a bonus of 1,000 euros for a full-time employee. TotalEnergies TotalEnergies employees benefited in 2022 from a salary increase of 3.5% on average, according to the group, which announced on Wednesday September 28 an exceptional dividend of 2.62 billion euros in total paid to its shareholders in December 2022. A strike for purchasing power at the call of the CGT forced the group on Wednesday to shut down its largest refinery, near the Haven in Normandy. The hydrocarbon giant will increase its investments in renewable energies by one billion euros, according to a press release published on Wednesday.
