Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that all territories occupied by Russia, including the Crimean peninsula, should be returned to Ukraine. He stated this in an interview with American television PBS, which was published on Tuesday night. TASR reports on the basis of a report by the British newspaper The Guardian. “If there is to be peace in Ukraine, then the return of the land that was invaded will be really important… (Russian President Vladimir) Putin has taken certain steps. We have taken certain steps. The territories that have been invaded will be returned to Ukraine,” Erdogan said. The Turkish president also commented on Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014. “Since 2014, we have been talking about it with my dear friend Putin… We asked him to return Crimea to its rightful owners,” he said. He added that the matter was still not resolved. Erdogan refused to say who he thinks is currently more successful in the war in Ukraine because he is not willing to consider it as a leader. “All we want to do and all we want to see is to end this fight peacefully,” he said. He strongly recommended this option to Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. It is a conflict in which people die and “no one wins in the end”.
