At least two dead and six injured in a shelling in Mykolaiv on Wednesday, a Ukrainian official reports Russian shelling killed at least two people and wounded six in the southern Ukrainian port city of Mykolaiv near the Black Sea, east Wednesday, according to the head of the region’s civil military administration, Vitalii Kim. “At approximately 01:10 a.m. Mykolaiv was shelled. Emergency services and municipal services are working on the spot. Some streets need to be cleared so that transport can pass through,” Sienkevych said in a post on Telegram. “We are still collecting all the information on the consequences of the bombing. I will report the details later,” he added. A bit of context: On Tuesday, pro-Russian regional officials insisted that the Ukrainian counteroffensive in the southern areas of Kherson and Mykolaiv was being contained. Ukrainian officials say they have so far recaptured some 500 square kilometers of territory in the south, along the Mykolaiv and Kherson borders.
