Oltra asks the judge to apply article 113 of the Law of Criminal Procedure, which allows the popular action to be unified in the event of the coincidence of actions of the different actors. The document sent by his lawyers to the court indicates that otherwise, he would incur in “an artificial constitution of the procedural legal relationship, with a real breach of the principle of equality of arms between prosecution and defense.” For the defense of the former vice president, unifying popular accusations would mean “a mechanism for rationalizing and organizing the process aimed at safeguarding the right to a trial without undue delay, since acting separately from the accusations would result in a more than foreseeable serious delay in the processing of the case.” In the case, eleven officials from the Department of Equality, two female of the Niño Jesús Center, where the abuses took place, and Mónica Oltra.
