The screening for the upcoming WC in Australia was dominated by Slovenian phenomenon Tadej Pogačar, ahead of Belgian Wout van Aert and Italian Andre Bagioli. The seven-time winner of the green jersey at the Tour de France and rider of the TotalEnergies team did not even finish Friday’s event in Quebec. For the native of Žilina, it was the last start before the world championship in Wollongong. “Almost three years after my last participation in Québec and Montreal, it was nice to be back. I like these two events for their city circuit format, fantastic fans and top starting field. Besides winning both classics, I have fond memories, especially for the 2017 edition of Québec where I achieved my 100th career win. I was looking forward to two days of great cycling but unfortunately it just wasn’t my weekend. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the spectators but my performance wasn’t what I would have liked That’s part of the race, now I’m concentrating on the next event,” the Slovak cyclist wrote on the social network.
