Four hours after the start of the charity event, a million euros in pledges had been raised. Broadcast on the Twitch platform, the Z Event brings together 57 streaming stars at the Montpellier convention center to raise funds. On the program: crazy challenge, karaoke, wrestling match, tournament on the game The Sims etc. Saturday evening, actor Alain Chabat even came to host a game “Question For A Streamer” in the style of “Burger Quiz”, a success. Last year, ten million euros were collected for Action Against Hunger. This year, five associations will share the donations. Their common point: they are committed to the protection of the environment, each in their own way. Sea Shepherd, WWF, LPO, Time For The Planet and The Sea Cleaners. “This will really be a game-changer for our budget,” explains France Inter Lamya Essemlali, president of the Sea Shepherd France association. “It’s going to be colossal, it’s going to change things” continues the activist. With the donations, the association intends to buy a boat. “We have 3,000 kilometers of coastline in France, with a lot of issues related to marine biodiversity. For the moment, the French branch only benefits from very small boats which do not allow us to go to sea for long enough” . She would like to do patrols over several days at sea, which is not the case today. The “Z Event, we dreamed of it”, testifies Yves Verilhac, the director general of the LPO, interviewed by AFP. “It’s amazing to see all these talents that give us a huge opportunity to multiply our action. We have many projects, some of which cannot be completed due to lack of resources, such as the fight against the extinction of the Monarch bird of Fatu Hiva or to save the lammergeyer vulture”, he explains.
