On Tuesday (30 August) in the Church of St. Tomáš in Prague’s Mala Strana held a funeral mass for the late Czech singer Hana Zagorová, who died on Friday (August 26) at 11 a.m.
The coffin was brought after 11:00 a.m., the ceremony began at 2:00 p.m., while only invited guests – family and closest friends – were allowed to enter the temple. Among them, in addition to her husband Štefan Margita and sister Evelyn Bečvaříková, there were many personalities from the world of art and show business, such as Dagmar Havlová, Jiřina Bohdalová, Aleš Háma, Josef Polášek, Lucie Bílá, Adam Plachetka, Michal David, Blanka Matragi, Libor Bouček, Petr Malásek, Ondřej Brzobohatý, Pavel Šporcl, Dagmar Pecková, Václav Kopta, Kateřina Žbirková, Jitka Zelenková, Vašo Patejdl, Ivana Gottová, Karel Vágner, Dagmar Patrasová, Felix Slováček, Leona Machálková, Honza Musil and others. To organize a private ceremony instead of a traditional funeral, Margita allegedly decided according to Zagor’s last will.

The public could say goodbye to Hana Zagorová on Wednesday (August 31) from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Prague’s Kalich Theater on Jungmannová Street. The last farewell began a few minutes after 11 a.m., shortly after 5 p.m. the last mourners were let into the theater.
It is in the Kalich Theater that the new musical Biograf láska will premiere on September 16, in which a total of 24 songs by Zagorová will be performed. A hearse covered with a white cloth was placed on the stage and a coffin was placed on it. As during the first farewell, which was attended only by family, friends and loved ones, there was a bouquet of white roses from Hana’s husband Štefan Margita.
On the stage was also a photo of the singer with her signature, which on Tuesday stood in front of the entrance to the Church of St. Tomas. Mourning bouquets were laid out in the corridors and large wreaths in the courtyard. It was possible to bring flowers to the place of the last farewell, any other gifts were prohibited.
Almost four thousand fans, who came to say goodbye to Hana Zagorová, smoothly walked past the stage, where they bowed, prayed, laid flowers and remembered the deceased singer. Photography was not allowed. While people were waiting in line outside, they sang the song Setkání. The singer Michal David came to say goodbye on Wednesday. In addition to him, the singer Monika Absolonová, who could not attend Tuesday’s farewell.
After the end of the public farewell to Zagorová at 5:00 p.m., flowers were taken to an improvised memorial site near the Vyšehrad cemetery in Prague, where the singer will be buried. The flowers will remain there until Saturday evening.
