Alarm on train under the Channel, stuck for hours in the emergency tunnel

Dozens of people were stranded for hours inside the Channel Tunnel after a train from Calais to Folkestone appeared to have broken down. The passengers of Le Shuttle – writes the BBC – were evacuated in an emergency tunnel and then transferred to a replacement train. The Le Shuttle company said it had to clarify the reasons that triggered the alarms in the train. “The service tunnel was terrifying,” said one passenger. “It was like a disaster movie. We walked into the abyss without knowing what was going on, everyone queued up under the sea. There was a woman crying in the tunnel, another woman had a panic attack, she was traveling alone.” . “Many people were going crazy in the service tunnel – said another passenger – We were stuck there for at least five hours”.
