Italians are hunting for solar panels so much that the search for these devices, even portable, explodes on Amazon. According to an analysis by Witailer, the category with the highest growth of solar energy products on the platform of the e-commerce giant is in fact the one linked to the theme of green and sustainability. And it happens not only in Italy but also in European countries such as Germany, UK, Spain and France. In Italy, comparing the first quarter of 2022 with the first quarter of 2021, an exponential growth of searches on Amazon emerged regarding solar panels (+ 263%) and portable solar panels (+ 1.123%), which are the articles most searched within the broader category of ‘solar’. Among solar panels, the most sought-after power is that of 100w and 300w. The same trend is also evident in Germany. Unlike Italy and Germany, in the UK, on ​​the other hand, the most popular searches, always on a ‘solar’ theme, are those relating to solar outdoor lighting: here the term ‘solar lights outdoor garden’ appears to be sixth in the ranking of the search terms with the highest volume on the entire Amazon UK market in April 2022. In Spain, too, most of the searches concern solar-powered outdoor lighting, albeit with a lower search volume than that analyzed in the UK: the most searched word within the category is ‘luz solar exterior’, up by + 45%. Also in Amazon Es, within the subcategory Guirnaldas luminosas, most of the best-selling products act through solar energy.Finally in France the two most sought-after products are solar lamps for outdoors (‘lampe solaire exterieur’) and solar panels (‘panneau solaire’) and Wetailer’s analysts do not therefore find, unlike other countries, a strong imbalance towards one product rather than another. Although, they note, there is a higher growth rate for solar panels than for outdoor lighting.
